Great bag, I am an Adventure Educator and spend a lot of time outside and this bag is warm and a great price point. Highly recommend.
Jeff C.
Froze my tail off in upper 30/low 40 degree temps! No way in the world is this a 0 degree bag! The “fill” is inadequate and bunches to the side of the baffles leaving you covered in two thin pieces of nylon. You can see right through the bag when held up to the light. I had to sleep with ALL my clothes on during my coldest night in the Boundary Waters and I only stayed warm because I was shivering all night. I bought it based on the positive reviews, but it is nowhere near being a 0 degree bag. Shameful. Shop elsewhere.
Savannah L.
Great zero-degree bag! I live in Texas so I don't have much need for a sleeping bag like this but I just did the Mt. Adams summit and a friend recommended this brand to me for that trip. Along with our 4-season tent, it kept us nice and warm while camping on the mountain. The bag also packs down well thanks to the compression case. Would definitely recommend!!
Bridget B.
Compresses well and feels nice, but I do not think this has a survivability rating of 0°. At 40°, I still slept in fleece pants, wool socks, two shirts and a Patagonia puffer with my hood on. I was comfortable at 40°, but on another trip I was absolutely freezing in the low-mid 30s. I like this bag - but please be safe in cold weather and test it first. (I use a Hyke & Byle sleeping pad underneath.)
MaryKay B.
I took new bag on river trip. It kept me toasty in near freezing temperatures. My only concern was the weight but since I’m not a big hiker and don’t worry about weight so much, it didn’t make a significant difference.
Basically I love the bag. I’ll use it again in the fall in Maine on a hike.
James S.
Camped in 32-40 degree weather In a tent. Plenty warm, I slept in a t-shirt and gym shorts only. Glad I bought this ahead of my Elk hunt in Colorado
Matthew D.
every useful feature you could want, beautiful fit and finish, elegant design.
Mary
Got both my teen boys one for Christmas. They are scouts and camp often. They love how cozy it is! Paired with a big agnes sleeping pad it makes for a good night's sleep. Got down to 30 on first campout and they were toasty warm in light layers.
william b.
Yes. I like this one the hyke and byke zero sleep bag keeps me warm and I use it as a blanket the egg plant colors a favorite my buddah dog wants one well made and affordable please be well hyke and byke william
Katherine E.
I have not used it yet:)
Nadege P.
Great purchase just couldn’t find the hidden pocket.
Cassandra B.
The second one purchased! Perfect for my camp loving grandkids
Cassandra B.
I bought these sleeping bags for my grandsons. They are avid campers and they are LOVING their new sleeping bags!!!!
Meri P.
Actually, I love the fact that I was able to send multiple sleeping bags to the soldiers at the front in Eastern Ukraine. My cousin (who is living in Ukraine) and I are conducting our own grassroots humanitarian aid. The mothers of soldiers fighting came to her and asked for sleeping bags to send. So we bought 14 sleeping bags designed for below 0 weather. I trust they are being well used and very much appreciated.
Vicki H.
The two sleeping bags that we ordered were sent to a small village in Western Ukraine.
From there, along with other supplies, they were disbursed to young men from the village who are going off to fight.
Some have already froze to death because they do not have adequate gear and warm clothes.
We and others from our community are working together to provide supplies to these men and a local orphanage.
David S.
very warm and as advertised
Jeff T.
Used it last week, idk what temperature it got down to but there was a heavy freeze during the night and I never noticed. Toasty.
Nathan P.
To me, this is more of a 20° bag than a 0° bag. It does back down small, and it is light.
Jimmy R.
I m going to buy another one. Super comfy!!! Perfect for sailing trip offshore with not heater.
Jimmy Ruggiero, sailor.
Tim F.
The construction of the bag was top notch. The fill I was not too excited about. For a 0 degree bag [the katahdin] it seemed to be lacking. I ultimately returned the bag. At first communication was kinda spotty, but I believe it was just an error in there system. After trying a few times, I got a response and they were very good to work with on the return.
Kyle H.
Just got back from 3 days where the average low was 17 degrees. Kept me warmer than my friend who had a $300 bag.
Theodore F.
I've had sleeping bags before. The extreme cold weather sleeping bag I'd been assigned in the military was never a comfortable fit in non-extreme weather. So when it was time to purchase a new bag, I approached my selection with a bit of old man's wisdom.
This Zero degree Fahrenheit rated sleeping bag was most comfortable. Even during that "oh no" stage where I accidentally disengaged the zipper, it was only a matter of a minute or two to re-attach the zipper. Really, really pleased with simplicity.
With my campsite weather dipping below 31 degrees Farenheit, I was comfortable. I had that toasty feeling. I never felt overheated. During the night (or rather early morning) I did feel a little cold, but only for a minute or few. Simple solution was to sleep on my other arm, and use the bag, as designed, covering my head with the mummy head-part.
The bag never got moist, and was dry and light throughout the night and into the morning.
Now I must confess I forgot to bring a pad, to put under my sleeping bag. Unfortunately, when I purchased my one man tent and bag, the offer for a pad in my checkout proved to not be in inventory. I did have a couple of polyurethane pads set aside, but forgot to pack it in the car. Sigh. Too bad for me.
I dummy tested putting my cold weather coat, under the top portion of the bag. I also put my cold weather overalls under the leg portion of the bag. For most of the night I was insulated from the floor.
There must have been a least an hour, or so, throughout the night, where my bag was in direct contact with the tent floor. That accounts for when I felt a little cold. Only for a spot area near my legs. I purposefully kept from sleeping on my back, as I didn't want to risk injury. My concerns never materialized. I was warm and comfy 98 percent of the time.
At times, despite the slow loss of body heat from the bag, directly into the floor, this mummy bag performed excellently. It kept me warm despite NOT having a pad under the bag.
Chris W.
Finally got to try out my sleeping bag. Got down to around 34 degrees. Slept comfortably in long underwear, light coat and a fleece hat without having to completely mummify myself in the bag (I prefer to have my face uncovered). Zipper was easy to use from inside or out and didn’t snag. Plenty of room in the bag (I’m 6’2 205ish). My only complaint was that the inside pouch is too small and located so anything hard I store in it hits me in the face or neck. Otherwise, I’m quite happy with the bag and looking forward to using it again.
Sheldon P.
Used this bag on late September elk hunt in Colorado. Kept me warm in upper 20’s temperatures with warm clothes and hat on. Packed up pretty well for backpacking.
Rachel O.
So far so good. No complaints. Used it 3 times.
Pete A.
Kept me warm even when I went to sleep cold. Roomy.
David M.
The bags are good enough. They lack the temperature rating and are consistently cold at around 45. They are quite durable and the included stuff sack works well enough.
Pamela R.
I used it for Scouts. Wanted a lightweight, warm bag. It was perfect!! Hope it lasts me for years.
Cheryl C.
Took it to AK for it’s first adventure. It was plenty warm as we had fantastic weather but I wanted the insurance of a zero bag that was synthetic. It’s light weight and packed up small enough but I had to make it a storage bag since it only came with a nice compression stuff sack but the price was really great! I have fabric and can sew so that was all good! I’ll have to wait until colder weather to really test it but so far I’d recommend this product.
Jessica K.
Took my sleeping bag to Alaska and it worked perfect for my week of camping!
Michael G.
I've only used it 3 times but so far I'm a big fan of this bag. I'm 6'1" and the long sized bag gives plenty of leg room. It's got a really smooth zipper (rarely snags). The stuff sack is the perfect size, keeps it compressed and is pretty easy to fit the bag in. The water resistant coating seems to work at least in the short term (spilled water on it and none got absorbed by the bag). Haven't used in temps under 35° but excited to see how it holds up in the late fall. Only downside is the cell phone pocket is too small for my phone, works well for my head lamp though.
Erin C.
I love this bag! I am always cold while camping but this affordable bag is a game changer! I love the cozy headspace. Great quality for the price!
Melissa T.
It was so comfortable and kept me warm I didn’t need all my layers. Going to buy again for my kids
Rick H.
I bought this for my girlfriend, I've had mine for two or three years now and thought she would like it. She is usually cold when we go camping and backpacking, and I wanted to hear less complaining. Problem solved.
Scott S.
It’s compressible and fairly light . Slept at 30F . Comfortable enough . Don’t think I want to take it to the brooks range for multi week 15F nights . I think it will be a great Alaska summer bag
PAUL S.
Fits me good but too big for reason I bought it: bikepacking
Jessica B.
Sleeping bag was purchased for my brother. He is 6 foot and 9 inches, and has broad shoulders. It fit him very well, and had room for movement.
Cara
I took this bag out for a night hammock camping in Alaska, and even though the temperature dropped to around 20 degrees, i was toasty warm! I did have an under quilt as well, but this sleeping bag stood up to the test of a cold night in a temperate rainforest. The bag also compresses down super well and we easy to fit in my pack. 10/10 would buy again!
aaron g.
This bag is awesome! I bought this bag for a fall deer hunt but I was so excited to try it I slept in the back yard in early April. The over night temp was in the low 30's and this bag paired with the ultra lite pad kept me warm in a t shirt and shorts. This is a great bag and the price just makes it better.
Tamara W.
I have been using it for winter camping in Alaska. I use it inside another bag for temps around -20 and up. Overall the bag is okay however it does seem to clump up and have a hard time fluffing out. I keep it stored unpacked when not camping. I do like the hood and zipper.
Roy P.
Great sleeping bag. Can’t wait to put it to use.
Susan P.
Súper cold up in the NH mountains in an unheated cabin and this sleeping bag kept me toasty!
Mark C.
Love this lightweight, compact and especially warm sleeping bag! I use it for winter camping and there is no doubt in my mind that I will be warm enough!
Ly T.
It’s compact and lightweight for easy storage.
Clifford R.
Gave itvto a friend as a gift... He loves it & so does his dog...
Rob B.
Hammock camping
as I type in a preserve state park with my teenage son- both of us sporting the Hyke and Byke Katahdin 0°F. Probably don’t need that temp rating this time around but the insulation is great, and the fabric/lining is really soft and comfortable.
Nancy N.
Very well made and comfy!
Diane H.
Purchased for my son at Christmas. He just used it last weekend and can verify that it is WARM!!
Jerry P.
Bought for grand children for cold weather camping. Have not tried out yet but the quality was as good as much more expensive bags. Very light for a none down bag. Very impressed. Would recommend.
Jordan H.
Kept me warm in 10 degrees. Easy to pack and light to haul.
Gretchen C.
I purchased this for a grandson but have been unable to give it to him dueto illness. Not sure when that will change. From my standpoint I have been impressed with your company and its policies. Would not be hesitant to order from you again.
Andrea C.
Wasn't sure whether to get this one or the down. We tried this one bc of the wet tn weather in the winters. Turned out to be a great buy. No regrets.
Kyle C.
The hybrid quality of this bag is great. I’ve used it in Montana in the mountains for an elk archery hunt in September and it kept me warm and dry. Temperature were in the 30’s at night the whole week. The Long is extra perfect to give you more space to stay warm. It packs down great to fit in your back pack too.
J T.
I like the warmth in relation to the size and weight and the quality of manufacturing. I’m using it for survival school.
cooper M.
Love it. Nice and warm. Packs down real small. Seems durable. Good build quality.
Jeff H.
Used on motorcycle trip to the Az city of Pine first weekend of December. Worked great and on that 28 degree first morning I was toasty warm. Also folds small enough to transport on the motorcycle.
Chris D.
An awesome sleeping bag, I first climbed in and after a few minutes I was amazed at how warm it really was, I’m so looking forward in doing some winter camping in northern Maine near Mount Katahdin.
Carolyn J.
Bought this bag for an overnight hammock backpacking trip that was going to be colder than expected. It got to around 35 degrees, and this bag stayed cozy - and I’m ALWAYS cold! I was worried about condensation from my breath making the bag wet (I had my head completely inside), but the inside of the bag was totally dry. The outside was slightly damp in the AM, but didn’t make me cold or wet. This bag is excellent for the price, size, and weight!
Fiona A.
My son is in the Service. We bought this for him for his birthday. He is in the field right now using it. He said it is the best and warmest sleeping bag He has ever used. 29 degrees and snowing.
Jim D.
Warm until 35°, I felt cold after that
Abz N.
This bag keeps me warm without supplemental liner or blankets into the mid-teens (F). Very soft and pillowy! I like the style of the zipper, I just wish the it went further down the length of the bag. Other than that, no complaints! Well worth the value. I like the company mission and the customer service was great! Looking forward to many more cozy nights in the back country with this bag!
Alexander H.
Went Elk hunting in Colorado and I couldn’t have done it with my 25 degree bag. Great addition to my gear list
Bryan R.
Used a couple times. Very compact, light, and warm.
Joey R.
There's a reason this "0" degree bag is lighter than every other brand's 0...it has less insulation. I'm a pretty hot sleeper and at 32 degrees I needed to wear extra clothes to be comfortable at night. I will say that after 6 days in wet conditions the bag didn't soak up any moisture. If you're wanting to go light and don't mind sleeping in extra clothes this bag will be ok.
jackie r.
Used the bag in Alask mountain goat hunt only got down in the twenties. We had to still wear thermals and down pants with down jacket to sleep
August F.
Very comfortable bag! Love the synthetic down, used it for a 10 day backcountry hunt. Temps down to 14 degrees and snow. Will definitely recommend to others.
Rab R.
Works for my backcountry bivouac sleeping system setup. I was looking for a lightweight synthetic sleeping bag that is rated 0 Fahrenheit or below. I complemented the Kathadin 0 with two Virtual Barrier Liners from Rab and Western Mountaineering, a Rab Storm Bivy and HykeAndBike sleeping pad. I was able to sleep comfortably in temperatures of low to mid 20's with considerable amount of wind gust. I was wearing down pants, down jacket, down socks, goretex pants and jacket as well. I cannot render an opinion solely on just the sleeping bag alone because I use other items to increase the performance of my gear. The sleeping bag performed great even with its low R value because I inflated it to the max so that I wouldn't feel the cold granite on my back. I was also using an emergency bivy with reflective coating as a ground cloth which I would crawl into if the weather gets foul. I wish HykeAndByke will consider to make all the items I have mentioned in my sleep system. It would also be nice if I would one day see a HykeAndByke windsack that I can easily deploy as a shelter in challenging weather. All the best to a promising company with founders who want everyone to enjoy the backcountry without shelling thousands of dollars for the gear.
Jaremy D.
I bought and used the Katahdin 0°F 625 Fill Power Hydrophobic Sleeping Bag with Advanced Synthetic for an 8 day backpack hunting trip in the backcountry of Oregon and the temperatures only dipped into the low 30's. Unfortunately I had to add several layers to stay warm. I also used the same sleeping pad I have used for years which has an R-Value to it. My old Nemo 20 disagree sleeping bag keeps me much warmer in lower tempratures. Pretty disappointed in this sleeping especially because of all the hype that Byke and Hyke does about the quality and price point of their gear.
Colby D.
I bought this for an upcoming elk hunt, so I haven’t tested out the warming capabilities yet, but you will quickly unzip and climb out of this bag at a balmy 70 degrees in the house. It is way too warm to be trying out in the house. The sleeping bag packs down to a reasonable size and it looks good when rolled out. I also like the fact that at 6’2” 220lbs I can zip the bag all the way up. My only complaint as I have not field tested yet is the customer service. As in there is no customer service and you can send as many emails as you want and no one will respond.
Tayo I.
Bought this for a 3 day 2 night backpacking trip in Idaho with nights dropping to the mid 20s. Worked perfectly. This + the Klymit Insulated Static V sleeping pad kept me warm and comfortable. Great value for the price.
Alexander M.
Soft and comfortable. This sleeping bad definitely kept me warm and is easy to pack up.
Lonnie C.
I have not had a chance to use it in the field. I did crawl into it once. I had trouble getting it zipped. It was very tight around my chest and shoulder area. Maybe I should have bought the long? I’m 5’8” and weigh 250 but carry my fat well and have wide shoulders for my build. Others in better shape should not have an issue. I’ll update once I have a chance to use this bag. The stuff sack seems to be good quality. The bag is nice and light for the temp rating. The bag seems to be very well constructed. I will be taking it on a road trip soon where I’ll be sleeping in the back of my pickup and may have a chance to try it out if temps permit or warrant it.
Kathleen P.
Lightweight and warm. We had no trouble rolling it up into the stuff sack. Just push out as much air as you can.
Kendra E.
Love it. So warm and lightweight! Spacious too!
Makenzie M.
This was perfect! It got so cold last night and I was able to sleep comfortably without sweats on, which is very hard for me to do. It was the most comfortable sleeping bag I have ever been in and allows for cute dogs to snuggle in and close by!
Corey S.
Loved the sleeping bag. Kept me warm and comfortable throughout 2 weeks of sleeping outdoors. Only addition I would make is a bivy cover or other waterproofing device.
Y’all may sell those on your website (I haven’t checked). But I think it should come as part of the sleeping bag.
Great product overall
Cristopher M.
I purchased this bag with the express purpose of keeping me warm on my summit of Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest point at 19,341 feet.) Our highest camp was at 15,200 feet, two of our camps were around 13,200 feet, with two others at 12,200 feet.
I can say that once I got in and warmed up, I absolutely stayed warm. I run cold, and I'm uncomfortable when I'm cold--so needless to say, I had to have a bag that would sustain my warmth at the high altitudes. The H&B 0F Katahdin synthetic did not disappoint! The bag is very comfy! It is roomy enough to roll over in the night, or reorganized yourself as needed. The zipper did not snag but a few times. It is lightweight and it packs down well for a synthetic. I would highly recommend it. We reached the summit and it was glorious. Thanks for keeping me warm!
Klay S.
Best sleeping bag I’ve ever had. Took it scouting for this years elk season. In northern Colorado, weather got down to 19°F at 11000ft and it kept me pretty well insulated, didn’t feel that bad at all. Very compactable and light weight if you were planning for a backpacking trip.
Kyle C.
I have only laid in this in my living room. It seems well built and most likely to keep me warm at 9000 feet in the mountains in September. I can give a better review I use it there in September 2021.
Karmen M.
Love the product, I mever received the sticker to promote your business on the back of my camper though.
Blake H.
This is a very comfy and warm sleeping bag! Took it out to the desert and temperature got down to 15 degrees and I stayed warm! What I really like about it is the material inside allows you to roll to your other side (I am a side sleeper) without rotating the entire bag! While hiking, the bag compresses small to make room for other items in your backpack. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Burleigh R.
I am excited to use the New bag in the BWCA this some.
I won't be cold again!
Brian
Excellent 0 degree bag! I've used this multiple for backpacking and camping trips. Good quality, very lightweight material. Kept me warm in low 30s overnight at 1,800 feet of elevation. Overall very satisfied with this product!
Ignacio C.
Excellent bag!!
Bruce L.
I will be using my bag this fall at 10,000 feet in the mountains of Colorado. So far I am very impressed with the quality and Hyke And Byke. I am very confident I will have a great experience. One of the guys going with me in November was so impressed with my bag, he bought one also. Thanks H an B!
RICHARD W.
Currently Hiking the AT with bad cell service. Beyond pleased with the product, and would highly recommend.
Rich Westfall
Kristin S.
Using it for the first time this weekend. Works great with my sleep system setup on my Living Room floor lol.
Patrick M.
Bought this bag for a grandson to use when Boy Scouting in the winter months. He has used twice on campouts. Temps ran from 16 degrees fahrenheit to the low 20's. He has stayed warm. Requires 2 persons to put into stuff sack and be quick or it pushes it self out again. He is happy with the weight and size when backpacking. I am satisfied with quality and warmth.
michael m.
just tried it in my back yard and slept like a baby, of course without the crib.
Deborah C.
Gave this as a gift to my son. He was expecting it to pack down to a much smaller size, based on the pictures he saw of it.
Sola m.
It's a great product
Chris M.
Bag is super comfortable and definitely warm in cold temperatures. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that getting the bag compressed back down to its original size took several tries. Could be user error, so I’m willing to update my rating after a few more trips. Definitely a great value for the price!
Steve W.
Very good quality bag. Exactly as advertised!
George S.
I havent used it yet
Heather A K.
Great bag! Spent several single digits nights car camping while traveling across country. Very comfortable...
Steven L.
I've so far had my 0 degree synthetic in 15 degree nights twice. I wake up cause I'm sweating and have to unzip it some to cool off. Absolutely amazing at less than half the cost. This will be my forever brand of bags for my entire family. 3.5 pounds and fits in the bottom of my pack.
dana b.
Very warm, very affordable. This is a great alternative to the REI 0 degree down sleeping bag.
Susan M.
I purchased it as a gift for my son - he loves it!
